The Watlow FIREBAR® heater offers an innovative heater concept that provides a wide array of design
improvements. Along with a host of other performance improvements, the Watlow FIREBAR® heater
features unique flat surface geometry that packs more power than traditional tubular heaters in shorter
elements and assemblies, Due to its unique design and geometry, a Watlow FIREBAR® heater can heat fluids from ambient temperatures
faster than tubular elements while using the same wattage and lower sheath temperatures. The Watlow
FIREBAR®t; heater is particularly effective with oil and other viscous materials. The unique design of the Watlow FIREBAR® heater provides users with many advantages in addition to its
improved heating performance. Providing the same wattage and watt density, the Watlow FIREBAR® heater
is 41% shorter than a 10.9 mm (0.430 in.) diameter tubular heating element, which enables users to add power
in equipment design without additional space. Additionally, by reducing watt density and sheath temperature, the
life of the Watlow FIREBAR® heater is extended without any compromise in performance. Problems associated with scaling, coking, and sediment are greatly reduced by the design of the Watlow FIREBAR®
heater. Because of its geometry, the Watlow FIREBAR® heater ‘breathes,” breaking many types of scale and
deposits off the heater sheath. The thin profile on top of the Watlow FIREBAR® heater also provides little space for
solids to settle. The velocity of fluid flowing past the flat surface has a “wiping” effect on the surface of the heater. In
oil or similar products where coking is a problem, Watlow FIREBAR® heaters provide the benefit of a lower sheath
temperature than a tubular element thus reducing the cause of coking. Watlow FIREBAR® heaters are available in single and double-ended constructions with one inch or 5/8 inch heights.
These two configuration variables make it possible to use Watlow FIREBAR® heaters instead of round tubular
elements in virtually all applications. Please contact us to order a Watlow FIREBAR® heater. To help us determine which Watlow heater will best satisfy
your application requirements, please determine as closely as possible the size, sheath length and material, watts,
voltage, mounting, terminal option, and bend pattern of the heater you will need. Please consult the
Watlow FIREBAR® Heater Data Sheet PDF for additional information.
